The Harris Family Gardens include raised beds, pots, and a small greenhouse in an urban (small footprint) setting. Plants are kept where deer can’t get to them. The family grows food, flowers, and herbs for personal enjoyment and for gifts to others. In addition to culinary, we are branching out in candles, aromatherapy oils, soaps, and skin care products.
The second part of the Harris Family Gardens is the wildlife garden, meant to protect wildlife, including plants, birds, and mammals, and benefit people. We have achieved the Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. This little lady sleeps under the juniper at our doorway.

The third part of the Harris Family Gardens include hydroponics, defined as the growing of plants in water instead of in soil. Hydroponics allows higher yields, better water efficiency, reduced pesticides, and a controlled environment. Hydroponic gardens can be found in urban apartments, suburban basements, and even eventually in space. MDHI offers agricultural education, consultation, and production.

In His goodness, the Lord has given man the opportunity to work hard at work worth doing. Also, He has rewarded our labors with good things.
