Rules

Group Discussion

  • Gather into groups of two or three.
  • Discuss the question for 5 minutes.
  • Choose a group spokesperson. Alternate between people.
  • Each group will answer.

Individual discussion

  • Once we have discussed the question by groups, we will begin individual discussion.
  • One person speaks at a time. No interrupting.
  • Raise your hand to be acknowledged.
  • Take only a few moments to make your point. Let others have a chance.

  2. What are some differences between religions in oral and written societies?
  3. What is your personal metanarrative?
  4. What is the primary source of one’s identity in the modern world (East, West, North, South)?
  5. Is religion growing or declining in importance in the modern world?
  6. Does religion cause war?
  7. How does religion impact individual rights?
  8. How does religion impact group rights?
  9. How does religion impact minority rights?
  10. How does religion impact economic development?
  11. How does religion impact scientific development?
  12. How does religion impact the environment?
  13. How does religion impact governance?
  14. How does religion impact sexual issues?
  15. What is a more reliable source of knowledge, reason or revelation?
  16. Is religion overall a force for good or for evil in the world?
  17. Describe experiences that you have had with adherents to non-Christian religions.
  18. How does Christianity differ from other religions?
  19. How can we use a knowledge of world religions to shape the world for Christ?

Timing

Discussion is usually done during the session immediately after lunch, when the students and the instructor are experiencing the afternoon circadian slows.
