MDHI Business

The MD Harris Institute provides individual and organizational education and consultation on a wide range of concerns, including finance, operations, marketing, logistics, and leadership. We have worked with groups from businesses to churches to emergency organizations to schools.

We fight for businesses. Many articles help business owners improve their operations, such as cutting costs and growing quality. In this era when good help is hard to find, the MDHI includes information on attracting and retaining talent. The MDHI advocates limiting government interference in commerce. We are concerned about justice in business operations.

We fight for investors. Shareholders, especially those holding minority interests, must be treated fairly. Management must not deceive or misuse the resources of investors and lenders. Communities should encourage public ownership of companies, in which key information about each company is available, and anyone can invest or divest at any time. Private ownership of firms, especially large ones, should be minimized because public information is limited and opportunities to invest are rare.

The MDHI investment strategy includes active management using value criteria in a global, diversified, multimodal (stocks, bonds, futures, currencies, options, derivatives, etc.) portfolio. Investments are shaped by extensive use of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), artificial intelligence, and other investigatory techniques. Our strategy emphasizes passive management for a majority of assets, maximizing diversification to minimize risk, especially company-specific risk. Vehicles include index funds and others. This strategy does not anticipate explosive growth but has been shown to provide consistent growth and relative safety.

We fight for people, families, and communities. Many articles detail the best ways to handle money. Our links go to groups that protect the poor and middle class from predation. For example, companies must not cut off financial services to individuals or to organizations like fossil fuel companies or churches simply because those people or groups may be unpopular.
